39,000 people including almost 17,000 children live under siege in Kafr Batna town in east Ghouta in Rural Damascus. Yesterday (23 February), UNICEF teams took part in the inter-agency convoy delivering the much needed health and nutrition support.
UNICEF delivered enhanced health and nutrition packages to Kafr Batna for 20,000 people for three months. These included Severe Acute Malnutrition treatments for 100 children under five and 1,650 pregnant and lactating women. UNICEF also distributed 20,000 comprehensive health kits to prevent and treat infection and diarrhea treatment.
