- According to District Governor, the number of Syrians seeking refuge in Turkey since Friday 19th September 2014 has been amended to 153,000. As of 26th of September 2014, the only border crossing that was open was at Yumartalik however the gate east of Musitpinar remained manned by border guards, with personnel referring new arrivals to the Yumartalik.
- Since 23rd September 2014, 100 General-Directorate of Migration Management staff are on the ground to pre-register the Syrians crossing into Turkey. As of the end of 24th of September, 7,250 individuals had been pre-registered. Following the pre-registration each individual is given an appointment date for 15-30 days later to get fully registered at Suruc Registration Centre.
- Current estimations indicate that approximately 60% of Syrians crossing into Turkey are children and 85% are women and children.
- It is estimated that 80,000 Syrians are in Suruc and its surroundings, with 2,300 sheltering at the District Boarding School and 268 Syrians accommodated at the Suleymansah Park. The capacity of the two transit centres is around 10,000. It is estimated that around half of the population in Suruc is living with relatives while the rest are staying in communal areas such as mosques, warehouses, and schools that have been set aside by the district authorities.
