Winter weather in Syria has turned the Bab Al Salame camp for displaced people, near the border with Turkey, into a mudbath. Keeping clothing clean and dry has been a major challenge for residents, who have also expressed concerns that hygiene conditions in the camp are worsening, increasing the risk of disease.

6.5 million people have been displaced within Syria by the conflict. UNICEF is providing clothing and other supplies to help keep children and their families warm during the winter. We’re also providing primary health care services in the form of centres and mobile medical teams, as well as initiatives in water, sanitation and hygiene.
