UNICEF is working with its partner, the Syrian Arab Red Crescent (SARC), to reach conflict-affected children in Talbiseh, in northern Homs Governorate. Talbiseh is a cross-lines area, meaning that it is particularly hard-to-reach with humanitarian supplies.

Education supplies for more than 7,000 children were distributed in Talbiseh in late July, including school stationary and school kits. UNICEF supports 37 schools/centres in Talbiseh and surrounding villages – run by SARC – where children can benefit from remedial education.

Meanwhile, on 6 August, more than 6,500 shoes were distributed to children in Talbiseh and surrounding areas attending UNICEF-supported remedial education classes.

Psycho-social activities in the area started on 8 August, coinciding with the Eid festival at the end of Ramadan. Activities, including art and group activities, are supported by UNICEF at SARC-run centres. More than 7,000 children will benefit from UNICEF recreational kits and psycho-social support sessions, which help children to recover from conflict-related experiences.
